Beatrice was a conductor of the Baltimore Ohio Railroad during the 1940s. In 1956, Beatrice and Johnnie Hudson were proud entrepreneurs of a luncheonette and candy store in Brooklyn, N.Y. In 1964, they relocated to McKee City, N.J., and she gained employment at Shultons in Mays Landing, N.J., then decided to further her education at Atlantic Cape Community College, where she earned an associate degree in dietary aid. Beatrice worked at several nursing homes as a dietitian and also as a hostess at Zabers Restaurant. Because of Beatrice’s love for children, with the aid of Atlantic Human Resources opened a summer camp program for underprivileged children in the late 1970s. Loving, caring, and devoted Beatrice, better known as Grandma or Aunt Bea, became famously known as the BMX Grandma, where she traveled all over in support of her grandsons’ extracurricular activities. In 1984, being employed at the Atlantic City Race Track, she retired from the workforce, and at the graceful age of 80 she took on the responsibility of raising her great-granddaughter Daneejah.
