No injuries in Amadas fire

Suffolk firefighters and police officers responded to a fire at Amadas Industries Tuesday evening.
The call at 10:29 p.m. reported smoke in the duct work of Amadas Industries, in the 1100 block of Holland Road, according to a city news release. A hopper full of metal shavings in a plasma cutter was on fire. Employees had used extinguishing equipment prior to the arrival of firefighters to contain the fire. All 24 night-shift employees were evacuated. Firefighters completed the job of extinguishing the blaze. Amadas staff later disassembled the affected equipment.
There were no injuries, according to the release.
