Minister Sharon Lynette Davis, 40, of 2210 E. Washington St., Suffolk, died Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was a native of Suffolk and the daughter of Jesse Stallings and Joyce Anne Davis.

She attended Suffolk Public Schools. Sharon also attended Stratford University, Central Texas College and Piedmont Community College. She received an associate degree and was pursuing education in substance abuse counseling. She was a volunteer with the Western Tidewater Community Services Board, member of the Suffolk Housing Authority Family Self-Sufficiency Board, Resident Council for Hoffler Apartments, Choice Neighborhood Grant Committee and Advisory Council for the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia. She attended Suffolk Christian Fellowship and was a member of the Pastor’s Aide and food distribution committee.

She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Cieara Davis; parents, Jesse Stallings and Joyce Anne Davis (Carlton); two sisters, Wanda Davis and Sherita Branch; two brothers, Rodney Davis and Carlton Davis Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, church and community family, and special friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014, at Antioch United Church of Christ officiated by Pastor Ralph Slaughter. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the home of Wanda Davis, 521 Mason Ave., Suffolk. Crocker Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
