David W. Woodson II

David W. Woodson II, 91, passed away June 24, 2014, at his home in Suffolk. He was the son of the late Myrtle Johnson Warren and William A. Woodson and the husband of the late Mary Tom Gilman Woodson.
He resided in Portsmouth since early childhood and in his later years lived in Suffolk. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Marine Corps three years, two of them in the Pacific Theater of operations.
After graduation from Virginia Tech, he was employed by Colonial Stores Inc., Norfolk. He held positions in Norfolk and Atlanta, Ga., both in buying and engineering departments. After additional company training in employee, public and labor relations, he was transferred to that department and was a manager for 30 years with offices in Norfolk and Washington, D.C., having responsibilities in five states. He retired after 38 years of service.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary Gilman Woodson; a brother, Dr. Bertram Warren, of Charlottesville; and a sister, Tola W. Edwards, of Virginia Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the humane society of your choice. Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
