The Nansemond-Suffolk Academy softball team hosted conference rival Greenbrier Christian Academy on Tuesday and lost 12-2, with the game shortened by the mercy rule.
Lady Saints head coach Brittany Wilkins summed up in a text message what gave GCA the edge, ending the game after five innings.
“They hit, and we didn’t,” she stated.
The Lady Gators finished with 11 hits, and NSA could only manage four.
Nansemond-Suffolk (2-3, 0-1) will host The Covenant School on Friday.
