Margret V. Watford Boone

Mrs. Margret V. Watford Boone entered into eternal slumber on Sunday, March 16, 2014, at Autumn Care Nursing Home of Portsmouth. She was born in Nansemond County (Suffolk) on April 21, 1929, to the late Goldie V. Watford and Joseph “Link” Copeland.

Margret was a 1946 graduate of East Suffolk High School and united in holy matrimony to the late Mr. Thadges Earl Boone. She was a dietary assistant at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Newport News and Riverside Rehabilitation and Nursing Smithfield.

She joined Mineral Spring Baptist Church at an early age, where she served diligently and faithfully for more than 60 years. She was a past member of the young adult choir and usher board and served as secretary of the Missionary Circle and treasurer for the Sick Committee.

Margret leaves behind two devoted daughters, Minister Wanda Outland (Carlton) and Joyce Ward; two sisters, Mildred White and Martha Woody; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

Mrs. Boone visitation will take place at the funeral home on Friday from noon to 7 p.m., and the family will greet guests from 6 to 7 p.m. A celebration of life ceremony will take place at Mineral Spring Baptist Church at noon on Saturday, and she will be laid to rest at Langston Family Cemetery.
