Player of the Week nominees

Following are this week’s nominees for the Duke Automotive-Suffolk News-Herald Player of the Week:

4Marche’ Everette, senior for Lakeland High School basketball: He gave his team the points it needed to take a late lead it never relinquished in a 42-40 conference tournament championship win over King’s Fork High School. In a 66-59 upset of No. 1 Nansemond River High School, he contributed 17 points and 12 boards. He scored 20 points in Monday’s 65-57 quarterfinal win over Denbigh High School.

4Gabrielle Snipes, senior for King’s Fork High School track and field: She won two Group 4A South regional championships on Thursday. She out-leaped the competition with a 17-foot-11-inch mark in the long jump, five inches beyond her nearest competitor. She also helped the 4×200-meter relay team take first with a time of 1:46.40.

4Caylin Harris, junior for Nansemond-Suffolk Academy basketball: She saw increased minutes this week during the conference tournament and made the most of them. In a 64-32 quarterfinal win over Walsingham Academy, she produced 14 rebounds to go with eight points. She helped create a blowout 57-33 semifinal win over Norfolk Academy, with eight points, seven boards and two steals.
