An unexploded shell, possibly from World War II, was found at a former munitions depot Thursday morning.
Suffolk Police and Fire and Rescue responded to a call at 8:05 a.m. from a contractor working at the site in the 7000 block of College Drive, according to a city press release.
The Military Explosives Ordnance Disposal responded to the scene and loaded the device onto a truck, transporting it to Yorktown Naval Weapons Station for disposal.
Explosive devices have been found in the area previously, especially after heavy rains, according to the press release.
