Ten animals died in a fire at a pole barn in a rural area of the city Friday morning, but no firefighters or other humans were injured in the blaze.

The barn in the 1400 block of Buckhorn Drive caught fire just after 9 a.m. Firefighters responded to a 9:12 a.m. call to find the barn fully engulfed in flames.

They quickly extinguished the fire and confined it to just the barn, but nine goats and one sheep perished. The barn was also used as a tack shop for horse equipment, which also was a total loss.
