As one law firm moves into the building at the corner of West Washington and South Saratoga streets, another has moved out — and into larger nearby downtown accommodations.

The law firm of Pender & Coward has relocated to 117 Market St.

The firm, which also has locations in Virginia Beach and Chesapeake, opened its original Suffolk office in 2005.

With an expansion of services and the hiring of personnel, the firm needed more space and began renovating the building last fall, officials said.

The new Market Street location, a former bank, features 5,300 square feet of space and will accommodate more attorneys and staff expected to join the firm.

“The original Suffolk office exceeded all expectations and every projection,” shareholder David Arnold said in a press release. “We look forward to continuing our growth in order to serve all of Western Tidewater from this updated space.”

The attorneys based in the Suffolk office specialize in eminent domain, business and commercial transactions, civil litigation and complex estate planning.
