The driver of tractor-trailer sustained minor injuries Monday after the rig ran off Route 460 in Suffolk and overturned at about 8:58 a.m., according to the city.
Suffolk police and fire and rescue units were on scene after the accident occurred in the eastbound lanes at Gardner Lane, according to a city spokesperson.
The truck struck a Dominion Virginia Power light pole, and Dominion Virginia Power crews were also on scene because of downed power lines. The company’s website noted that 35 customers in Suffolk had lost their power.
Traffic was being alternated eastbound and westbound, with delays anticipated for several hours while the tractor-trailer was towed and repairs to electric infrastructure were made.
The driver was taken to Sentara Obici Hospital by road ambulance, and investigators were probing the cause of the accident.
