Tickets selling well for pageant

Ticket sales are strong for the Nansemond River Pilot Club’s annual Womanless Beauty Pageant, but a few more contestants and continued sales are needed, said Becky Adams of the club.
The hilariously hirsute fundraiser for Relay For Life has become a staple after 13 years of the event. Men who don’t mind a little embarrassment dress up in women’s clothes, prepare talent presentations and answer questions.
Dinner is part of the evening as well, and this year will be provided by Carrabba’s Italian Grill. Dessert will be donated by Sweet MAMA’s in Windsor.
The event will be held Jan. 25 at the National Guard Armory, 2761 Godwin Blvd. Tickets are $20.
More people have expressed interest in the show recently, Adams said.
“They found out it was for the (American Cancer Society), so they were jumping on it,” she said.
