Paul D. Camp Community College’s new Logistics Management Career Studies Certificate program will be led by two highly regarded and qualified instructors when the classes start next month.
Jammie Faltz, general manager of California Cartage Co. in Suffolk, and David Lydick, program head and lead faculty for business management and marketing management at PDCCC, will prepare students for careers in transportation and warehousing through the study of the principles of organization and management in logistics.
“Both of these gentlemen are an asset to the Logistics Management program,” said Bob Hayes, education program coordinator for the PDCCC Regional Workforce Development Center. “Their experience in logistics and business will ensure that students have the knowledge and training they need to seek gainful employment in a rapidly growing field, or if they are already in the field, to upgrade their skills.”
Faltz will teach a class on transportation and distribution. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Old Dominion University in 1998 and a master’s degree in business administration from Troy University in Alabama.
He has LEAN Six Sigma Green Belt Certification as well as Distribution Requirement Planning Certification. In addition, Faltz has successfully completed training in other areas, including hazardous materials and union relations.
Faltz is in charge of a 385,000-square-foot facility and a 200,000-square-foot one. The centers include various warehouse operations, including full automation, cross-dock, and storage operations. He serves as the liaison between production and senior offices, oversees staffing needs and trains new managers.
Before his current position at California Cartage, he worked as operations manager at NYK Logistics and Allied Transportation, both in Chesapeake.
Lydick will be the instructor for Principles of Supervision I and BUS 193: Business Studies in Logistics Management. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Old Dominion University, a master’s degree in business administration from George Washington University and an educational specialist degree from The College of William and Mary.
He has been program head and lead faculty for business management and marketing management at PDCCC since 1990 and, along with his academic colleagues and college faculty, designed several Career Studies Certificates at the College for Leadership, and two for Entrepreneurial Small Business Management.
His experience with local telephone and power companies and with his own private consulting company uniquely qualified him to design and implement contemporary academic programs with the assistance of faculty and staff at Paul D. Camp Community College.
Classes begin Jan. 6. For more information, call the workforce development center at 569-6050 or visit www.pdc.edu/workforce-development/.
