A bomb threat discovered in a John Yeates Middle School restroom Wednesday read “Ima bomb JYMS on 12/13,” according to Suffolk Public Schools.
School district central office administration and the city’s fire and police departments responded to the school after the threat was discovered about 2:35 p.m., principal Daniel O’Leary wrote to parents.
“Those responsible will face criminal charges, as well as school disciplinary consequences, when found,” O’Leary stated.
Extra city police and fire officers were posted at the school Friday, he added. He asked parents to discuss with their children the importance of telling an appropriate individual “when they know of a situation that could threaten student safety.”
O’Leary asked anyone with information that could assist an ongoing investigation into the latest threat to contact the school or police.
On Monday, charges were dismissed in the case of a 20-year-old Suffolk man who had stood accused of writing a bomb threat in a similar fashion at King’s Fork High School last year.
