Player of the Week nominees

Following are this week’s nominees for the Duke Automotive-Suffolk News-Herald Player of the Week:
- Devon Oakley, senior for Nansemond River High School basketball: He had a game-high 16 points along with 10 rebounds, two assists, three steals and two blocks in Tuesday’s 57-47 win over visiting Grassfield High School. In Friday’s 64-41 home win over Great Bridge High School, he had a game-high 21 points on 56 percent shooting, plus 10 boards, four assists and four steals.
- Khadedra Croker, senior for King’s Fork High School basketball: She produced a game-high 15 points and also had 10 rebounds and five blocks in Tuesday’s 63-45 road win over Deep Creek High School. During Friday’s 55-28 home win against Grassfield High School, she put up 14 points, another game-high tally, to go with 14 boards and eight blocked shots.
- Aneka Yelverton, sophomore for Nansemond River High School basketball: She helped give her coach, Calvin Mason, his 100th win on Tuesday, leading her team with 20 points and grabbing three steals in a 57-45 decision over host Grassfield High School. Despite Friday’s 55-46 loss at Great Bridge High School, she still led her team with 16 points, including three 3-pointers.
- Nathan Leiter, junior for Suffolk Christian Academy basketball: He aided his team with 17 points en route to a 53-51 victory over visiting Chesapeake Bay Academy on Tuesday. Though Summit Christian Academy defeated the visiting Knights 62-53 on Friday, he still managed to put up great numbers — 17 points and 19 rebounds.
