Man indicted in September crash

An eight-vehicle pileup on Pruden Boulevard on Sept. 18 led to the indictment this week of Ronald Frank Quesenberry III on homicide and other charges.

A grand jury on Monday indicted a man on charges stemming from a Sept. 18 pileup on Route 460.

Ronald Frank Quesenberry III, of Norfolk, was indicted on charges of homicide, involuntary manslaughter, drive on a suspended license, reckless driving and operating a vehicle without an ignition interlock device.

The wreck killed 48-year-old Thomas David Rush of Virginia Beach. It happened about 7:14 a.m. that day and involved two tractor-trailers and six passenger vehicles. All lanes of the road were closed for about 10 hours.

It was unclear whether prosecutors plan on pursuing both the homicide and manslaughter charges or which vehicle Quesenberry was driving. A prosecutor did not return a call Tuesday afternoon.

Quesenberry was one of 51 defendants indicted on 100 charges.

Thomas Joseph Anctil also was indicted on charges of malicious wounding of an animal, animal cruelty and arson after he allegedly set the fire that burned his house on Copeland Road on July 8. Two dogs died in the fire.

  • Kelisha Branch — third offense larceny
  • Kiara Arbrette Branch — third offense larceny
  • Roy Brock — grand larceny
  • Shannon Marchell Bruce — assault and battery (2 counts)
  • Shawn David Bruce — abduction; assault and battery (2 counts)
  • Ronald Nathaniel Butler — drive while intoxicated, third offense within five years; drive while intoxicated, fourth or subsequent offense within 10 years
