To the editor:
It is my honor and privilege once again to have been elected to represent the citizens of Suffolk as sheriff during the 2014-2018 term of office.
On behalf of the 40 employees of the Suffolk Sheriff’s Office, we sincerely appreciate your vote of confidence on Nov. 5, and I pledge to you that we will continue to maintain the same level of professional services that we have provided during the past 20 years.
Your decision to rehire me and my excellent and professional staff will continue to save taxpayer dollars.
During any past campaigns for sheriff, I have always run on my qualifications and experience, because I feel this should be the main focus for a sheriff. I have always taken the high road, and never have I been publicly critical of any of my opponents or their family members, and I will continue to abide by that policy.
I hope those citizens who did not support our campaign will revisit the issues and see that what was suggested about me — if true — would have been an indictment of the entire criminal justice system. There are many legal safeguards that protect the system and prevent even a remote possibility of political interference in criminal or civil matters.
I have served the citizens of Suffolk for 43 years and have never violated my oath of office. I have always maintained job loyalty and due diligence during many, many tough times. I will continue this level of service for the next four years.
Thank you for affording me the opportunity to serve the citizens of Suffolk again.
Raleigh H. Isaacs Sr.
Sheriff
City of Suffolk
