Candie’s Place Adult Day Support has opened at 1931 Holland Road.
The new company provides “day support” services to individuals 18 and older who are intellectually disabled or who have a secondary diagnosis that requires supervised care during the daytime.
Clients can be dropped off and picked up anytime between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. They will enjoy a game room, a sensory room, music, socializing and regular van trips throughout the community. The staff provides skilled nursing services and medication assistance.
Co-owner Jackie Myrick wanted to provide an inviting location for senior citizens and disabled people to be able to interact and thrive.
“We want Candie’s Place to feel like a home away from home,” she said. “Participants and their loved ones should feel special and safe there.”
Candie’s Place has capacity for about 35 daily participants. They are part of the Noble Care LLC community-based group homes family. There are currently two Noble Care group homes in Suffolk.
“The health and welfare of our senior population is important to our community,” Suffolk Mayor Linda T. Jonson stated in a press release announcing the business’ opening. “We are pleased to have Candie’s Place Adult Day Support provide a unique and important service in Suffolk.”
