An event Nov. 16 will support a mission to West African country Burkina Faso.
The 6:30 p.m. event will have tickets available for $10, which will help pay for a pastor to attend a pastor’s conference in Burkina Faso as well as raise money to help the village school.
Suffolk’s Red Barnes is organizing the event and will be traveling to Africa Dec. 26 with a group including David Edgell of First Baptist Church and John Drames of Black Creek Baptist Church in Ivor.
The “Night Out for Africa” event will be held at the Rowes’ barn, 803 Cypress Chapel Road. It will include musical entertainment, a silent auction and presentations about the Africa trip and plans for the coming year.
“We put together a nonprofit to help do fundraising to help with the work digging wells, children’s schools, training centers and that sort of thing,” Barnes said. “We’ve been partnering with a church planter down there who also builds schools for village children who wouldn’t have any education. There’s several teams that have gone from various churches around Suffolk.”
Donations will also be taken at the event for the 107 children at the village school, each of whom can be sponsored for school for $50 a year.
