Church plans Billy Graham event

An event today aimed at youth and young adults will present a gospel message in an “out of the box” way, organizer Domenick Epps says.
His church, Covenant Community Church, and Pastor Harold McPherson are holding a “My Hope America with Billy Graham” event at the All in One Creations Hair Salon at 1226 White Marsh Road from 5 to 7 p.m.
Along with light refreshments and music, the program will include a series of videos by one of America’s best-known evangelists.
Epps said the church is holding several such gatherings, with most of them in private homes. But they also wanted to hold one near the Cypress Manor/Parker Riddick communities, which have seen shootings and other violence this year.
“It’s our belief and hope this event is really going to be a blessing and change a lot of people,” Epps said. “We’re really looking to reach the unsaved and the unchurched, those who probably would never step foot in a church building.”
In addition to the video ministry, people in attendance will share their testimonies as well.
“It’s not going to be a service,” Epps said. “It’s going to be very out of the box.”
Many people have been invited to the event through fliers and word of mouth, Epps said. It is open to the public.
“We’re just going to bring the hope of Jesus Christ,” Epps said.
The church hopes to use the event as a springboard for other outreach events in the community, he added.
