Charles S. Broadnax Sr., 67, of 315 Bosley Ave., Suffolk, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, at Sentara Obici Hospital. He was a native of Sequin, Texas, and the son of the late Floyd Broadnax Sr. and Georgia Mae Broadnax. He was preceded in death by his brother, Floyd Broadnax Jr.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree in education from Austin College. He retired from New York Department of Corrections as a correctional officer. He was a member of St. Paul Methodist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Brenda Ann Broadnax, of Suffolk; one daughter, Kanika (Nickie) Blunt (Timothy), of Suffolk; two sons, Charles S. Broadnax Jr. and Anthony Jones, of Suffolk; two sisters, Margaret B. Wilson, of Warner Robins, Ga., and Shirley A. Horner-Broadnax, of Houston, Texas; two grandsons, Jahrod Blunt and Zakiya Blunt; mother-in-law, Rebecca Johnson; sister-in-law, Valeria Jones; three nephews, two nieces, other relatives and friends.
