The Suffolk Rotary Club is giving away a luxury vacation package through its annual charity raffle this year, but whether you take the kids is up to you.
The winner of the grand prize, worth $4,600, will be able to choose between a trip for two to the Sandals resort in Jamaica or a trip for four to Walt Disney World.
The Jamaica trip includes airfare, dining and lodging for five nights, as well as $1,000 in spending cash. The Disney trip includes five nights of dining and lodging for two adults and two children, and $1,000 spending cash, but the winner will have to arrange his own transportation.
All of the travel details are can be flexible, as the winner will receive a voucher to one of the resorts for the total prize.
“It can be kids or sans-kids,” raffle chairman Patrick Belcher said. “And we’re giving them away in time for you to put under the tree.”
A second prize of $500 will also be drawn in the raffle.
Only 2,000 tickets will be sold, and plenty are still available, Belcher said.
The Rotary Club’s annual raffle is a popular event that in the past has given away motorcycles, cars and golf carts. Proceeds benefit local organizations like the Western Tidewater Free Clinic, Boy Scouts, the Pilot Club and more and also fund annual scholarships for seniors at each of the local high schools.
Tickets, which are $10, will be on sale at the Shrimp Feast and Peanut Fest, as well as through local Rotarians at local businesses like Copico, Richardson and Nash Clothiers, Physical Therapy Works, Xenith Bank and D.B. Bowles Jewelers.
The drawing will be held at Peanut Fest at 3 p.m. Oct. 13.
