A 37-year-old Suffolk woman was arrested after allegedly abducting a 15-month-old juvenile and fleeing the scene with another child also in the vehicle on Wednesday.
Josie Michelle Babb allegedly abducted the child from a resident in the 100 block of Parkway Street and was stopped by police in the 2400 block of Godwin Boulevard, city spokesman Tim Kelley stated.
“The father of (the) juvenile advised police that he attempted to take his child from the suspect, who he believed had been drinking, when the suspect then fled the scene in a vehicle with an 8-year-old also in the vehicle,” stated Diana Klink, a spokeswoman for the city.
“The children were safely located a short time later and were not injured.”
Babb, a friend of the children’s mother, was charged with abduction and kidnapping, cruelty and injuries to children, driving under the influence and other traffic offenses, Klink stated.
