Suffolk’s Ben Hunter started his senior golf season with the Apprentice School on the right foot, leading his team to a tri-match win on Thursday at Pine Hollow Golf Course in Clayton, N.C.
His 1-under round of 70 made him the medalist, and the Builders produced a team score of 306, four strokes ahead of Surry Community College, on the 6,508-yard par-71 course. The host school, Johnston Community College, carded a 331 total.
The three teams faced off again on Friday with some players from Louisburg College participating at Bull Creek Golf and Country Club in Louisburg, N.C.
