A police officer found a 5-year-old boy walking alone in the street after dark on Thursday and was able to return him home safely.

The officer found the boy on Wellons Street shortly before 9:30 p.m. The officer determined where the child lived and found out that the boy’s juvenile sisters were supposed to have been watching him, city spokeswoman Diana Klink said.

She did not know how old the sisters were. The child was uninjured.

Child Protective Services is investigating the incident.
