Suffolk Fire and Rescue extinguished a house fire at a home in the 4500 block of Godwin Boulevard Friday afternoon.
An EMS supervisor was driving by the home and saw flames coming from the single-story brick ranch, according to a city press release. Units arrived on scene five minutes after the call, which came in at 1:37 p.m.
No residents were home when firefighters arrived. The fire was restricted to a bedroom, but there was heat and smoke damage throughout the home. No injuries were reported, and the fire was under control at 2:01 p.m., according to the press release.
Four adults were displaced as a result of the fire but did not seek assistance from the American Red Cross.
The roadway was briefly closed while firefighters worked but has since reopened. The Suffolk Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
