‘Cut back and make do’

To the editor:
I am writing in regards to the story “New taxes, fees coming,” which was published in the June 27 edition.
In this time of economic downturn, sequestration, people out of work, hours being cut, people not being able to pay their mortgages, gas prices out of sight, needing a Brinks truck to take the money to the grocery store to buy a week’s worth of groceries, and who knows what will happen with health care, I think Suffolk used poor judgment by raising taxes and fees.
The city — just as individual people have had to do — needs to trim the budget, cut back and make do. Instead, raises have been given to those who made more than the average person in the private sector at the same level.
I think it is way past time to find qualified people with a better view of what the real world is like and vote them into office.
