To the editor:
Today, our nation marks the 63rd year since the North Korean invasion of South Korea. Even after all of these years, the U.S. and its South Korean allies stand ready to defend freedom on the demilitarized zone that stretches between these North Korea and South Korea.
The war claimed the lives of more than 36,000 Americans, and nearly 8,000 more are still listed as missing.
In the years following, South Korea has become a vibrant democracy and a strong ally to our nation.
The Joe Bagley Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2582 of Suffolk joins everyone in our great city in saying “Thank you” to those who wore the uniform and stood against communism and aggression in the Korean War.
