Home struck by lightning

Two homes in Bennett’s Creek Landing suffered damage after a lightning strike Sunday evening.
Suffolk Fire and Rescue responded to the incident just before 8 p.m. in the 100 block of Bennett’s Creek Landing, according to a city press release. A lightning strike reportedly hit a pine tree and shot over to the gutters of the home, entering the home at several points.
There was no fire from the strike, but an estimated $5,000 to $10,000 of damage was done to the exterior of the home along with electronics inside the home. A neighboring home had damage to a sprinkler system.
No injuries were reported. Power was temporarily off in the neighborhood but has been restored.
