Alson Napoleon Cromwell

Alson Napoleon Cromwell, of 1000 Litton Drive, Suffolk, died Monday, June 10, 2013, at Nansemond Pointe Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. He was a native of Martin County, N.C., and the son of the late Frank Cromwell and Elizabeth Cromwell. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Ethel Lee Watson, Louise Miles and Doris Jenkins; three brothers, Leo Cromwell, Oliver Cromwell and Bill Cromwell.

He retired from Newport News Shipbuilding.

He leaves to cherish his memory three daughters, Lisa Renee Townsend (Larry), of Newport News, Tara Denise Hart and Amy Cromwell; one son, Alson Cromwell Jr. (Candace), of Franklin; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alice Edwards, of Suffolk, and Elizabeth Hopkins (Gene), of Chesapeake; one brother, Durrin Cromwell, of Portsmouth; sister-in-law, Irene Cromwell; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2013, in the chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. A wake will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, at Crocker Funeral Home. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.crockerfuneralhome.com.
