Ernestine Richards Langston, 94, of Suffolk, born May 7, 1919, was called home on June 2, 2013.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Andrew J. Langston; her two children, Annette Byrd, Rudolph Wilkins; two stepdaughters, Shirley Ashe and Catherine Almond; and three brothers, James, Vincent and Alvin Richards.

She is survived by her six children, Robert Wilkins (Sandra), Hilda Boone, Betty Thweatt (Albert), Jean Pullen, Michelle Ford (William) and Robin Smith (Allison); adopted daughter, Almeta Smith; daughter-in-law, Veronica Wilkins; two brothers, George and Otis Richards; 20 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Viewing will be held at Harris Funeral Home, 685 Carolina Road, Suffolk,  from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church, 112 Mahan St., Suffolk, at noon on Thursday, June 6, 2013. She will be laid to rest at Carver Memorial Cemetery.
