Paul D. Camp Community College has released an iPhone application designed to promote the college’s major Web-enabled resources to an increasing population of current and potential students using mobile Internet devices.
“A growing number of our students, faculty and staff use the iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad and other mobile devices to access information and services on the Internet,” college spokeswoman Felicia Blow stated in an emailed announcement. “It is essential we provide our current and future students with tools optimized to the major mobile platforms as they become more and more popular.
The mobile application can be used to locate the college’s three campuses and the Workforce Development Center, to view available courses, to keep up with the latest news and to get access to events happening on campus, Blow stated.
Other features will allow users to:
- Stay up to date with the latest speakers and events video content from the PDCCC YouTube channel
- Keep up with courses by accessing them whenever and wherever they want
- Browse the library catalog and resources
- And get the latest news and photos from PDCCC’s Facebook feed
An Android app is in development and will be launched next, according to Blow. This will be followed by a mobile-optimized website at www.pdc.edu, offering similar features to users of other mobile devices.
