The Suffolk Master Gardeners will hold a plant sale Saturday to help fund their organization.
Set from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the National Guard Armory, 2761 Godwin Blvd., the plant sale will feature perennials, annuals, herbs and vegetable plants, as well as a bake sale to satisfy visitors’ cravings for something sweet.
“Hopefully we raise a lot of good money this time so we can consider some options for a place to store all of our equipment,” President Wanda Gerard said.
“We have quite the variety of perennials,” Gerard said, adding that popular choices include shasta daisies and black-eyed Susans.
Banana trees, butterfly bush and several varieties of shrubs also will be offered.
The event also includes a rain barrel demonstration, children’s activities and displays from other garden societies to provide information and ideas.
The Master Gardeners also will give away free trees left over from last week’s Arbor Day celebration. The saplings include river birch, silky dogwood, buttonbush, Washington hawthorn and oak.
Those with intact, plastic flower pots they are no longer using also can bring them to the event to be re-used by the Master Gardeners.
