Storm softball win its first tournament

The Southampton Storm 14U team traveled to Richmond to compete against five other 14U teams in Softball Nation’s Easter Special in their second tournament of the season.
Their first game was against the Richmond Diamonds and ended in a 12-1 victory for the Storm. The second game of the day was against the Tidewater Whitecaps, earning the Storm its second win of the day, 16-4. Next, the Storm faced the East Coast Diamonds, adding the third win of the day, 6-1.
With three wins in the books, the 14U team advanced to the championship game, where they defeated the K.G. Her-icanes 6-2 to become the Softball Nation Easter Special 14U Champions.
In the Storm’s first tournament of the season, the team earned a third-place finish. The team’s next tournament will be the “Pick Your Pitch” tournament, sponsored by Nation’s Fastpitch in Elizabeth City, N.C. on April 20 and 21.
The team will compete in a total of nine tournaments during the spring and summer, gearing up for its biggest tournament of the season, the NSA World Series tournament in Williamsburg July 22-27. Between now and the beginning of July, the team will be doing various fundraisers to help pay for its entry fee for the World Series.
Southampton Storm 14U is composed of girls from Southampton County and Suffolk. The 14U team is just one of five teams in the Southampton Storm Fastpitch Organization.
The 2012 tryouts gave the Storm organization five teams, which are currently competing in the 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U age divisions.
