The Lakeland Cavaliers produced a well-rounded 77-48 home victory over Hickory on Friday, with all 13 players on the roster scoring.
“I think that the last couple
of games the guys are really starting to see the light,” Lakeland head coach Clint Wright said. “They’re starting to see how to make each other better.”
After an emotional home loss to King’s Fork on Tuesday in which the Cavaliers very nearly knocked off one of the top teams in the district, they showed no signs of letting up against the Hawks.
“Right out of the gate, we went after Hickory, and we really played the game that I know that we actually have the ability to play,” Wright said.
He was especially pleased to describe the statistics of the game, because they communicated much about what Lakeland was able to accomplish as a team.
“The leading statistic was actually, of course, Jaquan Yulee had 21 points and seven rebounds. But there were a slew of players with four or five rebounds, there were a slew of players with two or three assists,” Wright said. “For the first time, my stat chart has something from everyone.”
Lakeland (7-8, 4-6) will host Deep Creek on Tuesday.
