Pierce earns medal

Navy Cmdr. Henry P. Pierce, IV, a 1990 graduate of John F. Kennedy High School, Suffolk, Va., was awarded a Meritorious Service Medal recently while serving at Naval Station, Newport, R.I.
Pierce exhibited a keen ability to orchestrate remarkable improvements in all facets of operations and programs at Naval Station Newport. He played an integral role in guiding the base through a period of substantial expansion and change. Pierce oversaw extensive construction and renovation projects totaling more than $75 million.
Pierce’s ability to see the correct course of action and proactively communicate ensured the operations of 55 tenant commands were not delayed during an aggressive schedule involving numerous construction projects.
Pierce continued to press to provide first class service to the Navy’s premier tenants.
