King’s Fork to host tourney

The second annual King’s Fork Tip-Off Tournament will take place Saturday beginning at 12:30 p.m. at the King’s Fork gym.
The event, which is more like a showcase than a traditional tourney, will feature five games, each involving different teams. Lakeland will start things out at 12:30 p.m. playing Hertford County and Landstown plays Bethel at 2:15 p.m.
Grafton faces Great Bridge at 4:30 p.m., Brunswick and Green Run play at 6:15 p.m. and King’s Fork hits the hardwood against Norcom at 8 p.m.
The idea behind the event is “to have a good test early on in the season for a lot of the top quality teams in the region,” Bulldogs head coach Josh Worrell said.
Last year, the tourney featured more teams outside of the region. Brunswick is the only team fitting that description this time around.
“This year, since we have a lot of quality teams in the region, we’re utilizing those, instead of going outside the area, because people now are having a hard time paying for travel,” Worrell said.
The doors will open at 11:45 a.m. and the event will be divided into two sessions in terms of ticket pricing. The first two games comprise the first session, which costs $8 for admission, and the last three games constitute the second session, costing $10.
