Suffolk police have finally learned the cause of death of a man found in the bed of a truck parked at a shopping center in June.
Steven Lamar Young, 53, died of cocaine poisoning complicated by a heart condition, city spokeswoman Debbie George said.
However, George said, it is apparent Young did not die in the back of the truck, and “police are still investigating how he ended up in that location.”
“There possibly may still have been a crime committed, but it’s definitely not a homicide,” she said.
Young was found June 6 when police received a call about 8:15 a.m. about a suspicious person in the bed of a white pickup truck that was parked at the Suffolk Plaza Shopping Center.
Police found the vehicle with Young’s wrapped body when they arrived.
Anyone who has information on where Young died or who put his body where it was found is asked to call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. Callers to Crime Line never have to give their names or appear in court, and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
