Suffolk pro makes top 10

Mark Lambert, a PGA professional from Suffolk, was tied for seventh place on Thursday in the seventh Senior Open of Virginia at The Country Club of Virginia’s Westhampton Course in Richmond.
Lambert shot a 36-34-70 in the opening round to wind up in the top 10 golfers. He was only three shots behind PGA pro Bud Lintelman, 52, of Purcelville, who carded at 3-under-par 67. He shared the seventh spot with two other golfers, amateur Allen Barber of Yorktown and pro Daniel Thore of Reidsville, N.C.
Suffolk amateur J.P. Leigh shot a 36-40-76 to wind up in the top 40 for the day.
