Willie Lloyd “Jimbo” Jones Sr., 79, of 3548 Nansemond Parkway, Suffolk, Va., died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, at his residence. He was a native of Nansemond County and the son of the late Virginia Jones Croker and Clifton Croker. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Myrick Jones and a daughter, Annette Jones.
He attended East Suffolk High School. He retired from Lipton Tea as a mechanic. Willie was a member of Tabernacle Christian Church, where he was a deacon, usher (Senior and Male Usher Boards), and a member of the Sunday school. He also was a member of the Nansemond Parkway Civic League and the Masonic Lodge No. 48.
He is survived by two daughters, the Rev. Brenda E. Jones, of Atlanta, Ga., and Yvonne Randolph (Raney), of Hampton, Va.; three sons, Willie L. Jones Jr. (Jean), of Frederick, Md., Sylvester Jones, of Ashburn, Va., and Michael Jones, of Suffolk; three sisters, Doris Croker, Marie Croker and Mary Jones, all of Suffolk; one brother, William Croker, of Philadelphia, Pa.; an aunt, Fannie Jones; nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and many friends.
A funeral service will be held at noon Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at Tabernacle Christian Church officiated by Bishop Carlton Upton Sr. Interment will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, Suffolk.
