Twin brothers arrested in May for manufacturing bootleg DVDs are in trouble with the law again after allegedly attacking a police officer.
Morris and Norris Harris, 50, both are charged with assault on a police officer, obstruction of justice and resisting arrest after the Friday incident, city spokeswoman Debbie George said.
According to George, a warrant officer went to the Chisholm Lane residence to serve a warrant on Norris Harris for drug charges.
The officer found him outside and attempted to place him under arrest, George said. When he fled on foot, the officer gave chase, caught him and attempted to place him in handcuffs, she said.
Then, Morris Harris allegedly “tackled” the officer, George said.
“They all ended up on the ground,” she said. The two brothers then allegedly got up and ran.
They both were apprehended a short distance away, she said.
Norris Harris has a court date of Sept. 11 on the new charges. For Morris Harris, it is Oct. 22.
Both are also due in court Oct. 2 on the charges they were arrested for in May. According to police, the brothers had more than 5,000 illegally produced DVDs in their home during a raid by the Neighborhood Enforcement Teams and the Special Investigations Unit, which were acting on information gathered regarding illegal DVD sales.
Police also allegedly found illegal manufacture of perfumes going on and seized cash, a 2003 BMW, an Apple iPad 2 and other electronics.
