Three people were arrested Tuesday on charges of an alleged gang-related attack last week.
The Suffolk Police Department’s Neighborhood Enforcement Team arrested 20-year-old Vontay Jennings, as well as two juveniles.
According to a news release, the attack occurred between 11 p.m. and midnight on June 26. The three juvenile victims were at a party in the Lake Kennedy area of Suffolk and then took a shortcut through the area of Cogic Square Apartments.
While walking near the apartments, the victims were approached by a group who told them it was “Crip territory.” One of the suspects allegedly pulled a gun on the group.
The victims attempted to leave but allegedly were chased down by the three suspects. One of the victims was wearing a red shirt, the color of a rival gang, the Bloods. That victim was assaulted so violently he had surgery to treat a broken bone in his face.
Jennings, who resides on Locust Street, was charged with malicious wounding, brandishing a firearm, assault, two counts of gang participation and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The two juvenile suspects, ages 16 and 17, also reside in Suffolk. They each are charged with malicious wounding, brandishing a firearm, assault and two counts of gang participation.
