Three teens have been charged in a fight that occurred Thursday at Lakeland High School.

The teens, two age 16 and one age 15, have been charged with assault by mob, gang participation and conspiracy to commit a felony, according to city spokeswoman Debbie George.

Investigation into the fight revealed that three members of a local gang assaulted another student, who is 18 years old, George added. All of those involved were of the same race.

Suffolk Public Schools spokeswoman Bethanne Bradshaw said the incident occurred in a hallway during a class change. The victim was checked by the school nurse, she said.

The three suspects have been recommended for expulsion for assault and “gang-like activity,” Bradshaw added.
