The King’s Fork Lady Bulldogs scored in three of the first four innings of their game Friday night and cruised to a 7-2 victory over visiting Oscar Smith.

Sydney Wash won her 10th game of the season and had a shutout going through six innings. She finished with seven strikeouts and no walks, while giving up six hits and no earned runs.

Autumn Vick put the Lady Bulldogs in scoring position early with a triple; she scored on a wild pitch in her next teammate’s at-bat.

After Wash struck out all three Oscar Smith batters in the top of the second inning, the momentum carried to the plate for King’s Fork.

Megan Blythe tripled to right field, scoring Shania Holland. Wash would help herself with a triple to the same spot in right field, allowing Blythe to score and giving the Lady Bulldogs a 3-0 advantage.

Wash put runners on second and third base in the third and fourth innings, but managed to work her way out of both jams.

Brenna Ginn crossed home plate safely after a fielding error from the Lady Tigers to give KF a 5-0 lead. Taylor Davis would follow with a double to bring home Ashley Roten.

After Oscar Smith broke up the shutout bid from Wash in the sixth inning, a sacrifice fly from Davis put the Lady Bulldogs up 7-1.

Davis finished 1 for 3 at the plate with two RBIs. Niki Cuevas also went 2 for 4 with two RBIs.

“Whenever you play a team that’s beneath you in the standings, you’re afraid you’re going to play down to their level,” King’s Fork head coach Richard Froemel said. “We didn’t do that today. We said we wanted to come out and get off to a fast start, and we did.”

The Lady Bulldogs will be in action again on Monday versus Great Bridge. They lost at home in their first meeting with the Wildcats.
