Radford senior Lynsey Daughtrey of Suffolk, a Lakeland High School alumna, has been named to the Virginia Sports Information Director’s All-State Field Hockey First Team.
Daughtrey garnered her first all-state recognition following a 2011 campaign that included her first all-conference selection.
A fixture in Radford’s starting lineup since her first game as a freshman, the senior back played all but five minutes this season, anchoring the Highlander defense while being a major contributor on both offensive and defensive corners.
In doing so, she became the first player in program history named to the first team.
An East Offensive Player of the Week selection, she recorded a team-best four goals and 10 points in NorPac contests and finished 2011 with five goals and a team-high five assists.
Daughtrey, who started every game of her four-year career, ended with 82 collegiate starts, which ranked her third all-time, while her 19 assists is tied for fourth in the program’s annals.
