Incorrect notices will not be re-mailed

Suffolk is reporting that some of the assessment notices mailed to property owners this week contained typographical and formatting errors.
The notices stated informal hearings for homeowners who want to dispute their assessment would be held April 1-15. However, informal hearings already have begun.
In addition, a computer formatting error caused incorrect values to be listed under Market Land Value and Agricultural Use Value sections. This in turn resulted in what appear to be mathematical errors on the notices, according to city spokeswoman Debbie George.
However, the assessor’s office says that the total assessed value on notices is correct.
Corrected versions of the notices will not be re-issued, George said.
Property owners who have any questions can call the assessor’s office at 514-7475.
