Raymond P. Fowler Jr., age 63, passed away Feb. 20, 2012. He was born in Suffolk, Va., and was the son of the late Raymond P. Fowler Sr. and Norma Lee May Fowler, of Suffolk.
Raymond was honored as an Eagle Scout, graduated from Suffolk High School, and served in the military as a medic during the Vietnam War. Raymond spent many years in Christian broadcasting. He was a member of Open Door Church of Suffolk, Va.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Deborah; son, Ray Fowler and wife, Cathy, of Smithfield, Va.,, daughter, Shea Fowler MacMillan and husband, Trevor, of Suffolk, Va.; son, Aaron Fowler and wife, Izzy, of Irving, Texas; granddaughters, Mikahla Fowler, Jasmyne, Kaylene, Janessa MacMillan and Joey Ann Fowler; and sister, Faye McClenny, of Portsmouth, Va.
A funeral service will be held at Open Door Church, 816 Kings Fork Road, Suffolk, Va., at 11 a.m. on Feb. 24, 2012, followed by a military committal service at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, also in Suffolk. The family will receive friends in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, from 7 to 8 p.m. The family requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 604 Constance Woods Drive, Suffolk, VA 23434.
