Hawks split with VSU

The Chowan Lady Hawks were behind by only two points at the end of the first half, but they could not hold off a second-half charge by the Lady Trojans of Virginia State University as they lost 66-46 loss on Saturday at Daniel Gymnasium on the campus of Virginia State University.
For the Lady Hawks, Talaya Lynch led with 12 points, and Ransheda Jennings had eight points.
The Lady Hawks are No. 6 in the northern division of the CIAA with an overall record of 8 -13.
In men’s action, after being up 28-26 at the end of the first half, the Virginia State University Trojans came back in the final minutes to take a CIAA win over the Chowan Hawks 60-58 in the second game Saturday at VSU.
The Hawks had three players in double figures. They were Quinton McDuffie with 18 points, Kyree Bethel 13 points and Chris Williams with 11 points.
The Hawks are ranked No. 5 in the northern division of the CIAA, with an overall record of 7-16.
