A man led police on a foot chase through a swampy area on Sunday before they caught up to him and arrested him on several charges related to a traffic accident.

City spokeswoman Debbie George said Keith Raynard Holland, 48, had been involved in an accident near the intersection of Elwood and South Quay roads on Sunday.

He was still on scene when police arrived, George said, but he allegedly ran when he saw the officers.

They chased him into the swampy area and were able to apprehend him, she said.

Holland is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, hit and run causing personal injury, refusal to take a blood or breath test and driving after being declared a habitual offender.
