The votes are in and the people have spoken: the Tranquil Living house was the favorite at this fall’s Homearama.
Tidewater Builders Association announced the winner of the fall Homearama People’s Choice Awards this week, with House 6 being named the gold winner for favorite home.
At the event, guests were asked on their way out to vote for their favorite home, interior design and landscape.
Stephen Quick, with Stephen Alexander Homes, the builder of Tranquil Living, said he was thrilled to hear the Homearama attendees enjoyed the house.
“We’re so enthusiastic about what we do,” he said. “When other people say they like it too, that’s the best award we could possibly ever, ever get. That would be the award we covet the most.”
The Tranquil Living home is 3,625 square feet with five bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms.
It features 12-foot ceilings in the master suites and a kitchen decked out with three ovens, a 10-foot island, built-in pantry and breakfast nook.
Quick said a lot of guests told him they thought the house was cozy and comfortable.
“When people came in they said it was so warm, so inviting, so livable, and that’s what we were going for,” he said. “We wanted it to feel like a house where anybody could come in and kick your shoes off and feel comfortable.”
This isn’t the first time one of Stephen Alexander homes has been selected as a fan favorite — the company’s homes have been selected in the people’s top three in the past two Homearama shows.
“People consistently seem to like what we do, and we’re grateful for that,” Quick said.
In addition to the Tranquil Living house, the Justin Kauflin Charity House and the Tribute to the City of Suffolk were favorite homes and received second and third places, respectively.
The interior design winners were, in order, the Tribute to the City of Suffolk, Tranquil Living and the Justin Kauflin Charity House.
For landscaping, the guests chose the Get Pink with Sentara house, Tee Time and the King’s Cottage.
